Kristi has had a long love affair with jewelry, and has been designing and making her own silver jewelry as a hobby for over fifteen years. For her, sitting down at the big purple workbench to create something new is solitary work that requires focus and care, but is most importantly a labor of love. According to Kristi, there is nothing so satisfying, nor as exciting as sitting down and firing up a torch. She only makes a few pieces a year these days, and most take weeks to make, so she tends to keep those for herself, friends and family.
Having grown up in a custom knife shop, she saw beauty in materials like titanium and damascus steel, both used by her late father for making his Carson Custom Knives. She began to fashion pieces using those metals combined with silver and precious and semiprecious stones. Her work is ever evolving, as she constantly experiments with new materials and fabrication techniques, and new tools to continue her growth as a metalsmith. Much of her jewelry is not for sale, but sometimes she decides to part with some of her work. On the rare occasion, she accepts a commission, but for the most part, she is pretty selfish in her time at the purple bench. There is a bit of her heart, prayers and peace in each piece she creates.
